Job description

As a SQL Database Administrator, your responsibility will be to ensure the optimal performance, integrity, and efficiency of our company's SQL database. You'll collaborate with other members of the digital team to enhance database functions and provide support for application development.

Your tasks will include:

1. Setting up, configuring, and managing SQL database systems to guarantee they operate at peak performance.
2. Monitoring database performance, identifying and resolving issues, and fine-tuning for maximum efficiency.
3. Crafting and refining SQL queries to ensure swift and effective data retrieval and manipulation.
4. Adjusting database configurations and indexes to enhance query performance and responsiveness.
5. Developing and maintaining ETL processes to smoothly transfer data from operational databases to reporting databases.
6. Designing and scheduling automated reports using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or equivalent.

Here's what we're looking for:

1. Ideally, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or certification in SQL Server administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
2. Demonstrated experience as a SQL Database Administrator or in a similar role.
3. Proficiency in SQL, with the capability to develop complex queries and stored procedures.
4. Familiarity with SQL Server tools such as SSIS and SSRS.
5. Knowledge of performance optimisation techniques.
6. Understanding of best practices in database security and compliance with data protection regulations.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration.
